Regenerate an API key

API keys do not expire, however is a recommended security practice not to use them for too long.
Regenerating an API key invalidates its current value and generates a new value: when you regenerate the key, its old value will be removed from EI-Flow memory and all calls to the API of a published workflow associated with the old value of the key will fail with an authorization error.
After regeneration, it is necessary to change the settings of the programs that use workflows via the API key by specifying the new value.

To regenerate an API key:

  • If it is a public key, open the API Keys page.
  • If it is a project key:

    1. Open the project.
    2. Select the Assets tab on the toolbar of the project's workspace. API keys are listed inside the left panel.

Then, in both cases:

  1. Select the key you want to regenerate from the list in the left panel.
  2. Select Regenerate key on the right panel. A dialog appears.
  3. Select Regenerate key in the dialog. The new value of the API key is displayed: copy it immediately and save it in a safe place as you do when creating a new key, then you can close the dialog.
