Regenerate the connection token
The connection token used by a remote runtime to connect to the complete installation of NL Flow is a secret and therefore it is good practice to change it periodically or when it may have been compromised. An existing connection token can be changed by regenerating it.
Regenerating the connection token immediately invalidates the previous one, so that a remote runtime using the old token will become isolated (a situation signaled by the red circle status icon when you browse the runtime items) because NL Flow won't accept connections from it anymore.
Therefore, after the regeneration, ask the responsible for the installation to re-configure the runtime with the new connection token.
To regenerate a connection token, in the Runtimes view of the dashboard:
- Select the runtime from the list.
- Select Regenerate connection token in the right panel. After a confirmation prompt, a dialog appears containing the new connection token.
- Select Copy to clipboard to copy to the clipboard the connection token.
- Paste the content of the clipboard in a safe location like a password manager.
- Select Close.
Now you can give the connection token to the responsible for the installation of the actual runtime, which will put it inside the runtime configuration. Once the runtime application has been reconfigured and re-started, it should connect again to NL Flow. Browse the runtime items to check the connection status of the runtime.
