Uninstall Studio

Studio is the IDE based on IntelliJ IDEA, while Studio Core is the plugin for Studio.
Studio can be installed as a Windows program and has a version corresponding to a version of IntelliJ IDEA, for example 2023.1, while Studio Core lives inside Studio and has its own independent version number, for example 4.6.3.

You do not need to uninstall Studio if all you want to do is updating Studio Core, which you can do with the appropriate procedures. So, uninstall Studio only if you want to get rid of the entire program.

Installable version

Studio is uninstalled like any other program installed in Windows.

During uninstallation you are asked if you want:

  • Delete caches and local history
  • Delete settings and installed plugins

It is suggested that you check both choices to remove any trace of the installation.

Portable version

  1. Locate the folder containing Studio.
  2. Run bin\RemoveStudioKeys.exe, answering affirmatively to the possible request for elevation of privileges.
  3. Delete the folder containing Studio.
