Add concepts using suggestions

Automatic suggestions

Platform is able to automatically suggest alternative, narrower, broader or related concepts.

Select an existing concept in the thesaurus tree of the Resources panel to display them in the Edit Concept panel, Labels tab or Relations tab.

You can use these suggestions to add concepts to the thesaurus tree.

Top suggestions

The main suggestions appear in the TOP SUGGESTIONS strips, which is displayed both in the Labels and in the Relations tabs of the Edit Concept panel.

The strip above contains alternative labels, while the one below contains narrower, broader and related concept suggestions.

Top suggestions are represented by the following icons:

  1. Select the Relations tab inside the Edit Concept panel.
  2. Drag the suggestion to the desired area—BROADER CONCEPTS, NARROWER CONCEPTS or RELATED CONCEPTS—below the TOP SUGGESTIONS strip.

To add a top suggestion in the thesaurus tree of the Resources panel:

  • Drag the suggestion to the desired position inside the tree.

Changes to the project—for example the addition of a language—may enable Platform to find new suggestions. To refresh the suggestions after project changes, select Refresh beside the TOP SUGGESTIONS title.

To filter suggestions by language, select an item in the Languages drop-down menu.

To see other possible suggested labels, select Suggested labels tab.

To see other possible broader, narrower or related concepts, select the Suggested relations tab.

To add concepts in the tree of the Resources panel, drag a single concept or select and drag multiple concepts from one of the tabs to the desired position.

To add concepts in the Relations sub-panel of the Edit concept panel, drag a single concept or select and drag multiple concepts from one of the tabs to the desired area: BROADER CONCEPTS, NARROWER CONCEPTS or RELATED CONCEPTS. In this case, if you drop the concept in the BROADER CONCEPTS area, the New concept dialog appears.
Confirm your choice by selecting Create or pressing Enter, or use the dialog to create new concepts everywhere in the tree, as described in the overview about thesaurus definition.
If you check View concept, after you are done with the dialog, the focus goes inside the tree on the last concept you created.
