Thesaurus and concept history

Overview

It is possible to view the history of your working thesaurus or the history of a selected concept in order to have a report of everything that has been done throughout the project.

Thesaurus history

To check the whole thesaurus history, in the Resources panel of the Resources tab, select Toggle thesaurus history .

When selected, the following tabs appear:

  • Concept
  • Concept schemas
  • Knowledge sources links
  • Cross project links

Note

Use the search bar to filter the list of operations.

To restore the Edit Concept panel:

  • Select Toggle thesaurus history again.

Or:

  • Select Expand in the upper right corner.

Each tab contains tables with details about operations. All tabs allow you to perform common operations.

Common operations

In each available tab:

  • Select the Date column to sort the operations according to the operation date.
  • Use the expand and collapse commands at the beginning of each row to toggle the display of operation details.

    Note

    Details vary according to the operation. For example, for the creation of a narrower concept, you will have this information:

    • Preferred label
    • Language
    • Broader concept and its URI
  • Select the drop-down menus above the table allowing you to filter the list of operations.

  • Select the ellipsis at the end of each row for specific operation-related commands.

Concept

The Concept tab lists all the concept-related operations in a table.

The table provides detailed information about operations performed on concepts.

Check the common operations described above that you can perform in this tab.

The green dot beside the concept name in the Concept column means the concept exists in the tree. If the dot is gray, the concept has been deleted.

Concept schemas

The Concept schemas tab lists in a table all the operations related to concept schema.

The table provides detailed information about operations performed on the concept scheme.

Check the common operations described above that you can perform in this tab.

The Knowledge sources links tab lists in a table the operation related to links between the current project and available knowledge sources.

The table provides detailed information about operations performed on linked concepts from knowledge sources.

Select a knowledge source beside the drop-down menus to filter the history of concepts related to the selected knowledge source.

The Cross project links tab lists in a table the operation related to links between the current project and other thesaurus projects.

The table provides detailed information about operations performed on linked concepts from other thesauri.

Concept history

To look at the operation history of a concept, in the Resources tab:

  1. Select a concept from the thesaurus tree in the Resources panel.
  2. Select Toggle concept history on the toolbar of the Edit Concept panel.

A panel on the right will appear with these tabs:

  • Concept
  • Knowledge sources links
  • Cross project links

Each tab shows a table with a list of operations, with performance date and time.

Select Toggle concept history again to make the panel disappear.

Each tab allows you to perform other common operations.

Other common operations

In each available tab:

  • Use the search box to look for specific operations.
  • Select Show information for details about a concept or the operation.

    Note

    Details vary according to the operation performed.

  • Select the ellipsis at the end of each row for specific operation-related commands.

Concept tab

The Concept tab contains a list of the operations performed on a selected concept.

Each items in the list shows this information:

  • Author who performed the operation.
  • Operation description.
  • Operation date and time.

Check the common operations described above that you can perform in this tab.

There are drop-down menus above the table allowing you to filter the list of operations.

The Knowledge sources links tab summarizes the operations related to knowledge source management with a selected concept of your working thesaurus.

The Cross project links tab summarizes the operations related to internal source management with a selected concept of your working thesaurus.

Check the common operations described above that you can perform in this tab.

Ellipsis commands

Whether you are checking the thesaurus or a concept history, a list of commands is available.

Select the ellipsis on the right of each operation row, then select:

  • View concept to view the concept in detail.
  • View concept history to view the concept history in the Concept tab.
  • Copy label labelName to copy the concept name to the clipboard.
  • Add labelName as AltLabel to reinsert a deleted label.
  • Create concept conceptName to recreate a deleted concept.
  • Delete concept to delete the concept.
  • Open conceptName broader concept to view the broader concept of the selected concept.

Note

According to the operations, you can find a limited number of commands.

Thesaurus and concept history drop-down menus

When you check the various tabs of the thesaurus history, some drop-down menus above the tables allow you to filter the operation list. Select the:

  • Operations drop-down menu to filter according to operation-related activities.
  • Labels drop-down menu to filter according to label-related operations.
  • Relations drop-down menu to filter according to relation-related operations.
  • Properties drop-down menu to filter according to property-related operations.
  • Extractions drop-down menu to filter according to extraction-related operations.
  • Custom properties to filter according to custom property-related operations.
  • Custom relations to filter according to custom relation-related operations.
  • Date to filter according to the date. If you select Time frame, select two days on the calendar to highlight the time range.
  • Author to filter according to the operation author. Use the search bar to look for co-workers. Select the X button to reset the search.

Note

According to the tabs, the drop-down menus can contain different filter items and each tab contains more or less drop-down menus.

When you check the Concept tab of a selected concept history, some drop-down menus above the table allow you to filter the operation list:

  • Filters: filter according to the available operation types related to the selected concept
  • Date to filter according to the date. If you select Time frame, select two days on the calendar to highlight the time range.
  • Author to filter according to the operation author. Use the search bar to look for co-workers. Select the X button to reset the search.
